Take a moment out of your busy schedules this July and visit The Bowes Museum in County Durham, as Yves Saint Laurent is holding its first ever major exhibition in the UK and for once it won’t mean an expensive train journey to London! The Fondation Pierre Berge (the designer’s former partner) – Yves Saint Laurent – and The Bowes Museum have collaborated to bring the retrospective, Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal, to the UK. The three month-long exhibition will showcase 50 outfits as well as many that apparently have never been shown outside of Paris before, a widespread outline of all his inspiration, visions and how he inspired others throughout his diverse and renowned career, including his time as creative director at Christian Dior.
The Bowes Museum is housed in a magnificent French-style chateau and is the perfect environment to hold such a luxurious exhibition. This museum has already previously held collections of the fashion-famed Vivienne Westwood with her ‘Vivienne Westwood Shoes’ exhibition, which showcased over 40 years of design in 2011. So if you missed Westwood’s, make sure you’re prepared and ready to take a visit for the perfect day out this summer. Guaranteed you won’t be disappointed by experiencing the remarkable history of Yves Saint Laurent.
