Cult New York label Rag & Bone selected Girl, Interrupted actress Winona Ryder to star in their Autumn/Winter campaign, and we can certainly see why. They stated it was because of her ‘timeless beauty’, and indeed, with her pixie crop and doe eyed expressions, it is impossible to argue this.
It seems forty-two year 0ld Ryder is only capable of improving with age, the timeless beauty previously mentioned shines through in the ad campaign which features a joyful looking Ryder in a series of scenarios set in New York’s famous Coney Island theme park. The scenes flash from vintage looking black and white to shaky yet coloured shots, reminiscent of an early twentieth century home video.
The video has a fun, romantic vibe. Throughout, Ryder looks flirtingly at the camera, batting her eyelashes and flashing seductive smiles whilst playing on a variety of arcade games, and all in all seeming to have quite a good time.
The campaign’s retro vibe, and New York city setting work in tandem to reflect Rag & Bone’s grunge inspired aesthetic, and simultaneously reflect their focus on all things vintage this season.
