This week saw the UK premiere of Marvel Studio’s latest superhero epic Thor: The Dark world. The fantasy epic set in the modern day is the sequel to the hugely successful 2011 Thor and ties in with the global box office smash The Avengers which grossed over 1 Billion Dollars worldwide.
Set one year after the events of The Avengers, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) battles to save the nine realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. A primeval race of Dark Elves lead by Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston) intends to plunge the universe into darkness. Confronted by an enemy that even Odin (Anthony Hopkins) cannot overcome, Thor must reunite with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and join forces with the now imprisoned Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to set out on a dangerous journey that will force him to make the ultimate sacrifice.
The UK premiere was a star studded event on Tuesday evening in London and both cast and guests alike pulled out all of the stops with some outfits being worthy of superhero status in their own right. Co-star and Oscar winner Natalie Portman looked the epitome of sophisticated glamour in a stunning ensemble by Christian Dior whilst Cat Dennings looked sleek and svelte in a floor length gown with an asymmetric cut. This years X-factor contestants were also out in force as part of this week’s movie themed special which saw contestant Tamera Foster looking stunning in the McQ Alexander McQueen kaleidoscope dress that Jules B sent her to wear especially for the event.
