The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2013

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants is announced each year to showcase which restaurants, manned by the Best Chefs in the World, are considered to be the most acclaimed. The select list of the top 50 are created by the Diners Club – an international group of over 900 chefsrestaurateursfood critics and all round ‘foodies‘  from over 27 regions around the world, each giving their expert opinion on the restaurant industry. Announced on the 29th April, this year marks the events 10 year anniversary – making it the most important date on the global culinary calendar!

Last years winner Rene Redzepi’s restaurant Noma in Copenhagen was this year beaten to the top by Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca, manned by the three Roca Brothers. Offering modern Spanish cuisine via their traditional Catalan family restaurant the brothers have consistently progressed through the Best Restaurant ranks for over eight years with cooking of the highest order and innovative creations that blow the imagination.

Two London restaurants also made it into the top 50 – the contemporary gastronomy and big flavour dishes of the Dinner by the legendary British Chef Heston Blumenthal reached number 7, whilst The Ledbury in Notting Hill moved up a place to number 13, alongside several other London venues that made it into the top 100.

Brett Graham, Head Chef at The Ledbury explained that their place in the list was  “a great recognition for the team, especially as it’s such a young team“, whilst it’s clear that London is quickly becoming a must-try foodie destination. | @JulesBOnline
