“I will always be obsessed with this coming of age moment in your life. I can’t seem to escape that. I like youth. I find it fascinating, kind of romantic”
– Luella Bartley, i.D Magazine
Marc by Marc Jacobs is a brand synonymous with youth, playful vibes and modern art. The diffusion line for Marc Jacobs is brave and adaptable, unafraid of changes in culture and revolutionary in their approaches to the customer. Last year Jacobs brought in designer Katie Hillier to give the brand a face lift, who in turn approached good friend Luella Bartley and the pair’s first collection was born at February Fashion Week earlier this year. Together the two emulate an energy and spirit which is gutsy, liberated and resoundingly British.
It isn’t just the brand that has been revitalised by a jolt of this energy, after a season of minimalistic and normcore based trends perhaps the industry is ready for the pair’s irreverent humour and positive morale. Their first campaign was cast via the social media phenomenon Instagram with the use of the hashtag #castmemarc and the results are refreshing and youth-led. Having just launched their second collection at New York Fashion, i.D magazine have interviewed the duo alongside this shoot which exudes the adolescence and free spirit of the Marc by Marc Jacobs girl. Leave your Marc this season with Jules B!
