The Men’s Edit: Autumn Layering

When the weather cools and nothing less than a winter coat will do, a stylish aesthetic calls for a bit of creative layering. With the right combination of jersey, knit and cotton in the right hue, it’s an effortless way to stay stylish whilst keeping warm on chilly days.

It’s important to stay aware of the cut, textures and fabrics to create a layered look to complement your casual or workwear looks. Teaming two similar textures with a simple top can work really well for formal ensembles. Just make sure that you mix and match each tone to create dimension. You don’t want your layers to look flat. Try combining neutral stoney greys with navy blue or charcoal for a smart appeal.

Wax jackets are a great option for wet weather. Make sure that you have enough room in yours to wear with thick cotton shirts or knitwear so that you can layer it up on chilly mornings. The coated cotton is a really warm option especially when it can protect you from the elements.

Even the humble bomber jacket can be styled to keep the chill at bay. Seen here with a collared shirt and jersey layer, the clean cut of the bomber combined with casual textures makes for a great day to night option without compromising on practicality.

Layering a wool jacket underneath a cotton workwear style blazer is a great way to showcase simple style whilst storing the heat.

You can’t go wrong with a simple knitted cardigan and chunky leather jacket. Offset by cosy shearling, this look makes it easy when going in and out of doors.
