The British Fashion Awards 2013

On Monday 2nd December, the 2013 British Fashion Awards were held at The London Coliseum.  The fashionable and the fabulous descended on London to witness these annual prestigious awards, where accolades such as Womenswear Designer of the Year and Special Recognition Awards were presented to outstanding members of the fashion industry. Any event hosted by The British Council is guaranteed to have an exceptional Red Carpet and this year was no different. The star studded guest list included the Editor in Chief of British Vogue Alexandra Schulman along with a host of models, designers, actresses and industry insiders.

Christopher Kane received the venerable Womenswear Designer of the Year Award following a hugely successful 2013 which has seen luxury French conglomerate Kering invest in his brand. LVMH, a competitor of Kering, saw some of its new protegees accept awards too as JW Anderson picked up the accolade for New Establishment Designer and Nicholas Kirkwood received the Accessory Designer of the Year Award, no doubt because of his outstanding footwear which will be surely gracing a few festive lists this year. The night belonged to Christopher Bailey, with Burberry picking up the awards for both Designer Brand of the Year and the Menswear Designer of the Year. Burberry model Edie Campbell pipped Cara Delevigne and Sam Rollinson to the post for Model of the Year, while Miuccia Prada was honoured with the accolade for International Designer of the Year.
