Recipe Of The Week: “Shakshuka” Spicy Turkish Style Baked Eggs

This Shakshuka spicy Turkish style baked eggs recipe from Wilde Orchard is a versatile meal that can be made as the ultimate Sunday (or everyday) breakfast, piquant lunch or a light dinner option. Arranged with delicious ingredients such as protein-packed eggs, fragrant spices and juicy tomatoes, this appetizing recipe is exceptionally easy to make and prepare with a handful of ingredients that you are most likely have at home. 2 eggs

1 400g tomato

1 diced onion

1 diced red bell pepper

2 cloves diced garlic

Feta cheese to taste

Handful of parsley

2 tablespoons Harissa paste

1/4 tablespoon chilli powder

1/2 tablespoon smoked paprika

Optional; toasted bread

1 tablespoon olive oil


Pre-heat oven to 200c. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a medium sauce pan. Add your diced onion along garlic and fry for approximately 3 minutes until softened. Once softened, add your bell pepper alongside chilli powder and cook for a further minute. Add diced tomatoes and Harissa paste to the pan and let it simmer for approximately 5 minutes. If you wish to cook the eggs in individual pans; separate the sauce into smaller ramekins. Crack the eggs onto your delicious and fragrant tomato sauce and place in the oven for approximately 6 minutes; or until eggs cooked to your preference. Top your Shakshuka with parsley, chilli powder and some hot sauce if required. For a more filling meal or healthy dinner option, toast some wholegrain bread to dip into the egg and sauce and enjoy!
