So, without further ado, sit back and feast your fashion-hungry eyes on our new wishlist additions as we introduce you to our brand new brands for SS14…

10 Crosby Derek Lam

American born Derek Lam hails from San Francisco, California, where he was born into a family which had fashion running in its veins. Graduating from Parsons School of Design in 1990, Lam gained his fashion credentials as an assistant at Michael Kors before being appointed vice-President of design for Michael Kors’ Kors line. Lam then went on to launch his own brand in 2003, debuting his collection at New York Fashion week the same year. His signature style is feminine fabrics cut into crisp silhouettes, raw silk is always a big feature alongside wide-leg trousers and plunging necklines. His diffusion line 10 Crosby is named after the address of Lam’s Soho studio which he cites as a huge source of inspiration for his designs. He says:  “My office is facing the street, and on my cigarette breaks when I’m blowing smoke out of the window, there are so many great moments when I see a girl walking down the street and she’s super stylish and very inspiring. Crosby Street is so unique — it’s one of my favorite in New York City.” Aimed at a younger audience than his mainline collection, 10 Crosby Derek Lam incorporates slouchier shapes, prints and more vivid colours, of course at a lower price point. Lam wanted to have fun with his new diffusion collection and he certainly has, the SS14 collection is the epitome of effortless chic, prepare to add everything to your summer wishlist!

Preen

Design duo Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi are another powerful addition to our list of new brands this season. They met in the Isle of Man when they were both eighteen and started off their fashion empire with a small boutique in London’s Portobello in 1996. Immediately establishing a sophisticated clientele with their sleek designs, the duo have now put Preen firmly on the map as one of London’s most distinctive and elegant labels. Known for their contemporary twist on feminine prints and silhouettes, the pair have never put a foot wrong when it comes to giving their customers exactly what they want and need. So when a beautiful array of evening-wear arrived at Jules B HQ we were understandably delighted. The SS14 collection features digital floral prints in figure flattering cuts, making the dresses coveted for both long and short term wear. Bright, spring colours of pink, yellow and blue popped through the collection in bursts of floral print set against a monochrome colour palette.

Wood Wood

Wood Wood is a Copenhagen based brand founded on the design ideals of urban street-wear and high end clothing. Established by friends and former design students of the Royal Design School of Denmark Brian SS Jensen, Karl-Oskar Olsen and Magnus Carstensen, the first store was opened in 2002. Starting out with printed tees, sweatshirts and hoodies, the brand has since grown to international recognition and is represented in almost every major worldwide city. The SS14 Collection is aptly named “Utopia”. A combination of modernism and classicism, the collection was inspired by the architectural history of France, the French Revolution and the possibilities of a new European future. The combination of these classic and modern silhouettes results into college style sweatshirts, loose silhouettes in new fabrics and clean lines. Side stripes on dresses and tops lend a sportswear vibe to the collection, resulting in a range of pieces which will transcend seasons and end up on everyone’s wishlist for this season.

Ganni

SS14 sees us welcome another Danish brand to our roster as we embrace the design ideals of Ganni.  Founded on the ideals of creating best-loved items for your wardrobe, Ganni aims to deliver pieces which make girls feel good about themselves, straying away from seasonal trends and instead focusing on shapes, silhouettes and fabrics. Ganni wants to give you your new favourite dress, top or pair of trousers, items which you can pull out of your wardrobe on any given occasion to perk you up and make you feel confident and alluring. The design team works with numerous other artists and designers in order to constantly generate new ideas and ideals for seasonal collections, resulting in an array of vibrant, fail safe pieces which can be called upon time and time again. The SS14 collection is a culmination of palm-tree prints, luxurious fabrics, seasonally appropriate silhouettes and affordable designs. From printed separates to daytime dresses, the SS14 Ganni collection is worth its weight in gold when it comes to capsule wardrobe dressing this summer.

La Bottega di Brunella

This season we welcome La Bottega di Brunella to our Conservatory brand roster. The Italian brand is meticulous in its creation of luxury organic cotton and linen garments and has been established since 1965. The family owned and run business is built of design ideals of passion, attention to detail, character and originality. Started by Vito and Brunella, and passed on to their children Cristina, Annamaria, Antonio and Francesco, La Bottega di Brunella pieces are all made and managed in house from start to finish to ensure total quality control. Textile fibres are woven first into delicate yarns which then form the fabrics of the finished products. The end result is a collection which is made from wonderfully light and luxurious materials, making it perfect for those long summer holidays.
