Oscars 2014

Last Sunday, the elite gathered for a star studded event that celebrated the beautiful and talented actors and actresses of Hollywood. From celebrity ‘selfies’ to comical antics, this year’s Oscars has definitely set the benchmark of the 2014 awards season so far, so here is a rundown of our favourite happenings and all the celeb gossip from the night…

For those of you who missed it, Ellen DeGeneres passed around her delivery of pizzas to her A-list friends to keep their hunger at bay throughout the event, and then gathered all of her favourites together and made Twitter history by posting a picture with Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pittt and more – an insider image which subsequently received so many hits it crashed the site and has already been retweeted over 2.5 million times. ( And Ellen is right – this might be the best picture ever!)

With an awards ceremony that lasted no less than six hours, the highlight of the winners proved to be the cast of 12 Years a Slave who won the Best Picture award with Lupita Nyong’o going away with the Best Supporting Actress award. Other key prizes went out to Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto for Dallas Buyers Club, as well as Cate Blanchett who won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

As always, the stars arrived in jaw droppingly extravagant gowns, and the stand out pieces included Sandra Bullock wearing Alexander McQueen and Lupita Nyong’o wearing tailored made Prada, however topping our best dressed lists, was Jennifer Lawrence who sported a beautiful dress by Dior.  Take a look at our pics of the ones that we think got it very right this year…
