In just under two weeks Somerset House will launch a major exhibition celebrating the life and talent of the late Isabella Blow.
Taking place from 20th November 2013 ‘Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore‘ documents Blow’s thirty year career during which she became one of the fashion industry’s most respected figures.
Blow began her career as Anna Wintour‘s assistant on US Vogue in the 80′s before relocating to London to work on Tatler and British Vogue. In 1997 she became Fashion Director of the Sunday Times Style before returning to Tatler as Fashion Director
During her career Isabella discovered models Sophie Dahl and Stella Tennant and worked closely with photographers including Steven Meisel, David LaChapelle and Sean Ellis. She also helped launch the careers of two of Britain’s most celebrated designers – Alexander McQueen and milliner Philip Treacy among others.
The exhibition itself will showcase over one hundred pieces from Isabella’s private collection, now owned by Daphne Guinness, including her wedding headdress and graduate designs by McQueen and Treacy plus some of her favourite dresses, shoes and accessories.
