Golden Globes Award Nominees 2016

The Golden Globes award nominees were announced yesterday, giving us a first glimpse of the films that will be dominating award season early next year. With the Christmas period fast approaching as well as the releases of many of the films nominated, what better time to highlight the must see movies of the season? With titles such as Carol, The Revenant, The Danish Girl and Steve Jobs leading the pack with multiple nominations, the Golden Globes are renowned for indicating the top tips to win throughout award season.

In preparation for the Golden Globes Awards taking place in Beverly Hills in early January, we round up the hottest films tipped to bag the awards in 2016.


Nominated for prestigious awards including ‘Best Motion Picture’, ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Actress in Motion Picture’, not to mention a  few more, Carol tells the tale of a women who takes the necessary gamble to find true love.

The Danish Girl

Described as a ‘beautiful, humane and moving biopic’ by the Telegraph, The Danish Girl depicts the story of transgender artist, Lili Elbe, one of the first to undergo gender re-assignment surgery.

The Revenant

A raw tale of revenge, The Revenant is nominated for ‘Best Actor in Motion Picture Drama’ among others, sparking rumors that this could lead to DiCaprio finally being awarded his first Oscar.

Steve Jobs

A biopic of the late co-founder of Apple inc directed by Danny Boyle and starring Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet,  gaining the pair nominations for both ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Actress’ in a motion picture.

The Big Short

The Big Short follows four outsiders in the world of finance, each predicting the financial collapse in 2008 leading them to make millions in the fallout. Starring Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt and Steve Carell, the film features two up for ‘Best Actor in Motion Picture’.
