This week world renowned GLAMOUR magazine presented the GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards in London. What began in May 2003 as a salute to the hard working women in the fashion industry soon spiralled into a fashionable frenzy and the Conde Nast publication now celebrates the inspirational talents and extraordinary achievements of women from a variety of fields every year. Categories include entertainment, business, sports, music, science, medicine, politics and education with a few extra special awards including Glamour Hero and the coveted Icon award. The red carpet was walked by national and international stars alike and saw a mixture of fashions, whilst some took a laid back approach to the celebrations wearing tailored trousers and stilettos others opted for floor length dresses and bright hues despite the less than summer-like weather this past week. Surprise guest of the evening was none other than the gorgeous Ryan Reynolds who popped up to present Dame Helen Mirren with her Glamour Icon award. The celebration was hosted by lovable comedian Graham Norton and the winners took home goody bags worth £4,000 that even included Victorinox Luggage and Lulu Guinness handbags along with a whole hoard of beauty gifts and jewellery too.
With some unsuspecting guests, the awards was full of shocks and surprises this year, from Samuel L. Jackson’s suit to the appearance of Dom and Steph from Gogglebox fame whom caused a twitter frenzy when Fearne Cotton snapped a selfie with the couple.
A fabulous celebration of women and woman power alike the lucky winners this year were a mixture of sporting stars, TV and film starlets, music moguls, writers and the man of the year. Take a look at the fashions and the winners of the evening here :
