Crispy Pan Fried Shrimp Potstickers

Elevate your usual Chinese takeaway tradition and make these super crispy and juicy shrimp potstickers from the I am a Food Blog at home! Filled with decadent shrimp and the traditional spices for an aromatic dish, these potstickers will become your ultimate alternative to takeaway nights.


16 potsticker wrappers

1/2 pound of shrimp (peeled and deveined)

2 cloves garlic

1 tbsp fresh minced garlic

1/4 cup sliced green onions

1 tsp neutral oil

1 tsp toasted sesame oil

Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste


Roughly chop the shrimp until a paste-like mixture is formed. Alternatively, place the shrimp in a food processor and lightly blitz until a paste mixture is formed. Mix the ginger, garlic, oils, green onions and seasoning into your shrimp paste. Take a little bit of the ready filling mixture and microwave until cooked. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Place 1 tbsp of filling onto the middle of the wrapper. Lightly moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then bring together and pinch to secure. In a nonstick pan, over medium heat, heat up a touch of oil. Once the pan gets hot, lay the potstickers into the pan in one layer. Cook until slightly browned then add 2 tbsp of water, cover and cook for approximately 6-8 minutes. Once the water has cooked off, lift off the lid and continue cooking until the bottoms have brown and crisped. Enjoy hot with soy sauce or other sauces of your choice!
