Carine Roitfeld Documentary Trailer

A year ago it was announced Fabien Constant’s first feature length film would be a documentary following the chicest fashion editor in the industry, Carine Roitfeld. Often perceived as unapproachable due to her trademark combination of jet-black, skin-tight leather jeans and studded stilettos. This is the perfect opportunity to see if her public persona is a true representation of the ex Paris Vogue editor. Centred on the first edition of the tastemaker’s biannual magazine, titled CR Fashion Book, the highly anticipated trailer for Mademoiselle C is finally here…

After departing Vogue for reasons that have never been disclosed, Mademoiselle C focuses on the rebellious editor’s return to the role but for her own independent magazine, CR Fashion Book. Offering a look at the concept and set up the documentary gives an exciting insight into a new approach to the world of fashion publication. Confirming Roitfeld’s confidence to experiment, scenes show the editor’s unique approach to the highly controversial advertising space; instead of battling for the first page, designers appear in alphabetical order. A blunt approach synonymous with Roitfeld’s no-nonsense attitude.

As many acclaimed photographers are contracted to Vogue, the documentary portrays the CR Fashion Book’s inspirational attitude to celebrate new talent. Roitfeld describes the magazine as ‘a place for big legends and very unknown people, maybe going to be the next legend.’ However her legion of admirers is still strong and Tom Ford, Donatella Versace and Karl Lagerfeld are just a few who make appearances .

With the impending premiere set for New York Fashion week next month, and viewings at subsequent fashion weeks, this is a refreshing look at the fashion industry. There is no doubt Mademoiselle C is a must see, an insight into the most controversial editor’s work and inspiration, plus a sneak preview of the future stars of the fashion industry? We can’t wait. If you’re as excited as us you can pre-order the DVD, released on September 30, now.
