BAFTA TV Awards 2015

Last Sunday 10th May the stars were out in force to battle it out for a highly acclaimed British Television Award. With familiar faces from our favourites shows filling up the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, each nominee was eager to get their hands on that infamous Bronze Mask trophy.

Hosted by comedian Graham Norton – who incidentally also won ‘Best Comedy Entertainment Programme’ for his self titled chat show – the BAFTA’s kicked off with the ‘Leading Actor’ accolade. Beating off competiton from the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) and James Nesbitt (The Missing), this year the award went to Jason Watkins for his part in The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies.

This was followed by a surprise win in the ‘Best Actress’ category for Georgina Campbell, who received the gong due to her part in the series Murdered by My Boyfriend, beating Sarah Lancashire and TV favourite Sheridan Smith to the title.

Claiming “This is insane” she went on to add “the women who are in this category are absolutely brilliant and if I have the career they have in a few years time I will count myself very, very lucky.”

The real winners of the night however were TV’s favourite pair Ant and Dec who scooped two awards. Both titles ‘Best Entertainment Performance’ and ‘Entertainment Programme’ went to the duo for Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, beating off competition from the likes of The Great British Bake Off and Strictly Come Dancing.

Whilst this years ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ went to Jon Snow for his dedicated 40 year career in British Broadcasting and Journalism.

Joining the long list of Lifetime Achievement winners including Helen Mirren, David Attenborough, Alfred Hitchcock and Judi Dench, Jon Snow was initially surprised at his nomination into the Hall of Fame claiming “when I saw the list of fellows I was daunted by the idea that I could in some way be ranked amongst them. I through at first Bafta had the wrong Snow…”

However, alongside the winners, the stars also showcased stand-out style in the fashion stakes with their Red Carpet looks.

So here’s a few of our favourites of the night…..
