Fashion Designers In Europe

Labels, labels and more labels. Europe loves them. Fashion designers have become huge household names, and for many, label loyalty is not just a choice, it’s a way of life. At Jules B, we’re no strangers to rubbing shoulders with the brightest stars in the fashion world, so we looked a little closer at the relationships between European countries and labels. So which countries are crazy about Calvin Klein? And which exclusively rate Ralph Lauren? We analysed 1.3 million search volumes for the top 50 designers across 50 European countries, and now we can officially reveal the most popular designers across the continent.

Let’s start with the UK, shall we?

Taking the top spot for the Brits is Michael Kors, which shot to fame in recent years with its coveted handbag collection. Hot on the heels of King Kors are Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, in second and third positions for the UK.

So how does the UK top three compare to other key European countries?

Well, in France, Spain and Germany it’s all about Tommy Hilfiger, with the American label coming top for both countries. Italy, on the other hand, is in agreement with the UK, with Michael Kors enjoying the top spot here.

And what about further afield?

Fashion lovers in Turkey favour French-Italian label, Pierre Cardin, with the brand way out in the lead ahead of Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein in second and third places.

In contrast, for the Czech Republic nothing beats Calvin Klein, easily outstripping its runner-up, which is – you guessed it – Tommy Hilfiger.

While there is clearly a top contenders pattern emerging here, there are also a couple of wild cards in the mix. One slightly more unexpected name that consistently crops up in the majority of top fives, is Ivanka Trump. Yes, that’s right, the daughter of the POTUS and face of her very own clothing line is ranking highly among many of the more established designers. Coming second in Italy, third in Spain, fourth in Germany and fifth in the UK, she’s very much in demand. She also ranks right at the top of the lists of Albania, Bosnia, Georgia, Kosovo and Macedonia, to name but a few.

Could Ivanka Trump be an emerging top fashion designer?

She’s not the only one. Also featuring in the top five’s for countries like Ireland, Norway, Iceland, Russia and Switzerland, is Kanye West. With his highly popular Yeezy clothing line and constant presence in the media, it’s little wonder that Kanye is creeping into the top fashion designer line-up. Is this the beginning of a new wave of fashion designers, with celebrities like Ivanka Trump, Kanye West, Beyonce, Rachel Roy and the Olsen Twins overtaking the likes of Chanel, Jimmy Choo and Vivienne Westwood? Time will tell.

For now, however, Europe as a whole largely favours the classics when it comes to fashion. The overall most popular fashion designer across the continent is, of course, the omnipresent USA fashion staple, Tommy Hilfiger. Michael Kors follows closely in second place, with Calvin Klein, Ivanka Trump and Ralph Lauren in third, fourth and fifth places.

In sixth comes Kanye West, followed by Jimmy Choo, Pierre Cardin and Yves Saint Laurent in seventh, eighth and ninth places. And finally, the tenth most popular fashion designer in Europe is another top American label, Tom Ford.

If this has put you in the mood for a bit of a shopping spree, we’re not judging. You can check out the latest looks from huge labels like Vivienne Westwood, Versace, Hugo Boss, Emporio Armani and many more here at Jules B.
