Barbour Menswear
The men's Barbour spring/summer '13 collection is a showcase of classic waxed and quilted jackets reworked and refreshed into lightweight must haves. Featuring colourful polo shirts and on-trend plimsolls, the SS13 Barbour collection is completed with functional bags and accessories that perfectly complement the brand's clothing range.
A renowned British brand with local heritage, the Barbour story originates in 1894 in South Shields when John Barbour started out as a travelling draper supplying oilskins for seafarers and outdoor workmen. Over time, Barbour has grown to be a household name for wax cotton jackets and in turn, their style has evolved to become legendary for functional and timeless fashion.
While Barbour continues to be renowned for jackets and overcoats, they have now developed as a standalone lifestyle brand. No longer appealing solely to country sports fans, they encompass menswear, womenswear, childrenswear, accessories, footwear and more. Always keeping styles current, the brand often include designer collaborations and iconic influences with a modern edge.
Barbour recently joined forces with print makers Liberty to create some beautiful linings for their women's jackets. The current womenswear Gold Label collaboration with British designer Alice Temperley mixes durability with luxury to create feminine glamour.
The most prestigious of their collections is the Barbour Steve McQueen range influenced by the ‘King of Cool’s’ style and how he pioneered the International jacket during motorcycle races including the 1964 International Six Day Trials when Steve McQueen raced for the US team.
The Barbour brand, now over a century old, has never compromised their close family values and remain a British brand to the core. They are still creating clothing of great quality, functionality and attention to detail whilst now including the modern fashion edge we all know and love.
